27th edition of the StuditaliA Prize

StuditaliA Prize is live also this year, an initiative born in 1994 that reaches this year the 27th milestone. The Consulate of Italy in Brisbane announced it together with the Queensland Department of Education.

The Award is pledged to Australian students attending Year 12 and provides the students that will be selected by the Organising Committee with the opportunity to undertake immersion experience in Italy, if not next year, due to international travel limitations, in any case before 2025.

“We are glad to offer also this year this extraordinary opportunity to StuditaliA students to become the Ambassadors of the relations between our countries and our communities” said the Consul of Italy in Brisbane Salvatore Napolitano, who participated in the kick off video-conference. The Consul added: “latest 2020 data show, in comparison with 2016, an increase in 18,73% in the numbers of students of Italian at Queensland schools. It is a great success for the extensive and comprehensive efforts of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Embassy of Italy in Canberra and the Consulate of Italy in Brisbane to promote Italian language and culture”.

StuditaliA is based on the collaboration between the Consulate of Italy, Brisbane and the Queensland Department of Education and it is supported by the voluntary contributions of institutions and the associations of the Italian community. The Organising Committee is integrated as well by Comites Queensland and Northern Territory, COASIT Brisbane/ Italian Language Center (ILC), Dante Alighieri Brisbane, Griffith University.

One of the questions that StuditaliA students will answer concerns the “Divina Commedia”, Dante Alighieri’s masterpiece, on the occasion of the 700th anniversary since the death of the great Italian poet. StuditaliA 2021 Prize recipients will be announced next October during the Italian Language Week in the World.
