The Italian community and the users of the Consulate of Italy in Brisbane for Queensland and the Northern Territory can already count on new, more functional and safer spaces.
Minister of Education and Industrial Relations of Queensland, Hon. Grace Grace, Italian citizen, Deputy Mayor of the City of Brisbane, Cr. Krista Adams, Chief Magistrate His Honour Orazio Ray Rinaudo accompanied Consul Salvatore Napolitano in the official opening ceremony, together with members of the Italian community and business representatives.
“The expansion of the offices of the Consulate will enable us to provide more efficient services. It is a decision strongly motivated by the commitment of Italian institutions to our community, and in line with the measures already introduced and envisaged from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in favor of our fellow Italians abroad” declared the Consul, who added: “we are intensively working at increasing and deepening institutional, cultural and commercial relations with Queensland and the Northern Territory, built on the valiant contribution of our traditional community and invigorated by a new and qualified immigration and the increasing activity of our companies”.
Italian infrastructure company Ghella, whose representatives attended the inauguration ceremony of the Consulate, was just preferred together with other enterprises for the construction of the Cross River Rail in Brisbane, a project of 5.4 billion AUSD, while in the Northern Territory, Italian energy company, ENI, which has long been active in the exploration, production and supply of gas, has recently entered the local renewable energy market and is building Australia’s largest photovoltaic power plant near Katherine.
Queensland and Northern Territory are approximately 10 times larger than Italy and both have immense natural resources and tourist attractions, as well as commercial prospects, especially in infrastructure and energy.
