Consul Napolitano today met with the President of Comites for Queensland and the Northern Territory, Ms. Mariangela Stagnitti.
The Comites’ are representative bodies of the Italian community, directly elected by Italian nationals residing abroad in each district of at least 3,000 residents (within Queensland and the Northern Territory there are over 17,000 Italian citizens).
President Stagnitti outlined the activities of Comites QLD & NT and the ongoing initiatives planned to encourage the participation of the Italian community to the cultural and social life of the territories.
Consul Napolitano congratulated Ms Stagnitti for the great focus given by Comites QLD & NT to the Italian community, especially to young people and new generations of Italians. Napolitano then presented the program of cultural promotion activities endorsed by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 2019 also coordinated by the Italian Embassy in Canberra, which in Brisbane will include la Settimana del Vivere all’Italiana, created by Ambassador Gatti last year to promote Italian gastronomy and culture as well as the excellences of our Country; an initiative that President Stagnitti declared to be eager to support.
