An Italian citizen who intends to marry in Australia at the local authorities does not need any permit or authorization from the competent Italian Consular authority.
After the wedding, a document called the official or standard Queensland marriage certificate or marriage certificate in the Northern Territory must be requested from the state registrar of the state where the wedding took place. If the ceremony takes place in the States of Queensland or the Northern Territory, the aforementioned certificate in original, complete with apostìlle and translation in Italian, must be delivered to this Consulate together with photo ID documents of the bride and groom for registration with the registry office of the town hall where they are resident in Italy. This will ensure that the marriage is also valid in Italy. Please book an appointment with the Consulate, civil status sector or write an email to aire.brisbane@esteri.it
