The Honorary Consulate in Darwin can receive passport applications from Italian citizens residing in the Northern Territory and collect the biometric data of the applicants (fingerprints, photo and signature). As a result, Italian citizens residing in the Northern Territory will no longer have to come to Brisbane to apply for an Italian passport.
Italian nationals who wish to use this service must contact the Honorary Consulate in Darwin by email (darwin.onorario@esteri.it) and send the passport issue form, duly completed.
Italian nationals, who wish to apply for an Italian passport via the Honorary Consulate in Darwin, will have to send this passport application form, by email to: darwin.onorario@esteri.it, duly signed (please do not scan passport photos with the form).
For minors, parents will need to complete this form.
Once a check has been carried out on the consular records, the Honorary Consulate in Darwin will confirm the appointment by email specifying the day on which the Italian citizens will be invited to the Office of the Honorary Consul in Darwin, to finalize the passport application procedure and capture the biometric data. Please note that the Honorary Consulate in Darwin will not be able to directly issue passports, which will continue to be printed in Brisbane.
Passports cannot therefore be issued immediately (“on sight”) but will be sent by the Consulate of Italy in Brisbane directly to the applicants’ address.
