Honorary Consulate in Cairns

The Honorary Consulate of Italy in Cairns can receive passport applications from Italian citizens residing in Far North Queensland and collect the biometric data of the applicants (fingerprints, photo and signature). As a result, Italian citizens residing in Far North Queensland will no longer have to come to Brisbane to apply for an Italian passport.

Italian nationals, who wish to apply for an Italian passport via the Cairns Office, will have to send this passport application form, by email to: Cairns.onorario@esteri.it, duly signed (please do not scan passport photos with the form).
For minors, parents will need to complete this form.

Once a check has been carried out on the consular records, the Honorary Consulate in Cairns will confirm the appointment by email specifying the day on which the Italian citizens will be invited to the Office of the Honorary Vice Consulate in Cairns, to finalize the passport application procedure and capture the biometric data. Please note that the Honorary Consulate in Cairns will not be able to directly issue passports, which will continue to be printed in Brisbane.

Passports cannot therefore be issued immediately (“on sight”) but will be sent by the Consulate of Italy in Brisbane directly to the applicants’ address.
