The Italian Cultural Institute<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0Consulate of Italy in Brisbane<\/strong>\u00a0are pleased to present the Duo\u00a0Dario Doronzo<\/strong>\u00a0&\u00a0Pietro Gallo in \u201c<\/strong>Metamorphoses Concert\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The eclectic Duo Re-Imagine was born in 2015. The Duo offers a wide-ranging repertoire that\u00a0combine classic Italian operatic lyricism (Monteverdi, Mascagni, Cesti, Porpora, Scarlatti, Verdi, Paisiello, Caldara, etc.) with modern jazz-style improvisation made in Italy through arrangements of Italian Opera arias (in the Reimagining Opera album) and metamorphoses of Antiche Italiane arias (in the Re-imagining Aria album). A\u00a0skilful elaboration and interpretation of the complex and elegant rewriting in a modern key of compositions and opera arias from the cultured sphere.<\/p>\n

The duo will perform at the\u00a0Italian Cultural Institute in Sydney on 8 August<\/strong>\u00a0and at the\u00a0Brisbane Jazz Club on Saturday 10 August.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Memory, research and modernity are the key elements that follow a singular path in terms of effects and sounds. Paying homage to the past to dialogue with the present is the ambitious goal of this duo. The common thread is the theme of \u2018rereading\u2019, a stylistic and aesthetic figure suitable for uniting two very different worlds such as that of classical music and the more liquid one of modern Jazz. The project retraces a singular path, in the bed of interpretation, in synergy with the thought of the French philosopher Paul Ric\u0153ur: the music \u2013 alter ego of the lyrics \u2013 rises above the intentions of the classical authors who created them to \u2018produce \u2018 and \u2018recreate\u2019 another meaning, autonomous and new, in which explanation and understanding are united and not opposed in the interpretative process. The \u2018disassembly\u2019 and \u2018reassembly\u2019 of classical works with modifications and variations on the melodic, harmonic, timbral and rhythmic levels leads the listener to fully savor the true value of the Ancient Arias which, even today, continue to surprise us. An incessant panta rei of landscapes, sounds, colors that refer to distant cultures, a continuous and fruitful inspiration for new sounds which, after about four hundred years, still move the mysterious strings of our soul today.<\/p>\n

Dario Doronzo\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Pietro Gallo<\/strong>\u00a0have to their credit numerous concerts for important Italian and foreign musical and cultural entities, including:\u00a0Carnegie Hal<\/em>l in New York,\u00a0Spectrum NYC<\/em>,\u00a0International Trumpet Guild<\/em>\u00a0| San Antonio (Texas),\u00a0SKG Bridges Festival<\/em>\u00a0in Thessaloniki (Greece),\u00a0Ahmed Adnan Saygun Arts Center\u00a0<\/em>in \u0130zmir (Turkey),\u00a0Kailash Mital Theater<\/em>\u00a0in Ottawa (Canada),\u00a0NoiseFloor<\/em>\u00a0in Stoke-on-Trent (England),\u00a0Yelde\u011firmeni Sanat Art Center and Italian Cultural Institute of \u0130stanbul<\/em>\u00a0(Turkey),\u00a0Kulturni Centar of Novi Sad<\/em>\u00a0(Serbia), \u0130zmir European Jazz Festival, Embassy of Italy in Ankara<\/em>\u00a0(Turkey),\u00a0Studio Acusticum | Pite\u00e5 Concert Hall<\/em>\u00a0(Sweden),\u00a0University of Ni\u0161<\/em>\u00a0(Serbia),\u00a0Museu Nacional da M\u00fasica of Lisbon<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Museu Nacional Machado de Castro of Coimbra<\/em>\u00a0(Portugal),\u00a0Italian Cultural Institute of Krakow<\/em>\u00a0(Poland),\u00a0Auditorium Parco della Musica of Rome<\/em>,\u00a0Jazzit Fest<\/em>\u00a0|\u00a0Pompeii<\/em>, etc. They recorded for the DiG \u2013 Digressione Music label, with which they released the CD\/LP \u201cReimagining Opera\u201d (feat. Michel Godard at the Serpentone) and the CD \u201cReimagining Aria\u201d (feat. Gabriele Mirabassi at the Clarinet). They teach trumpet and piano in Italian music conservatories and high schools.<\/p>\n
