{"id":8112,"date":"2026-09-14T13:46:57","date_gmt":"2026-09-14T11:46:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/consbrisbane.esteri.it\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/stato-civile\/divorzi\/"},"modified":"2026-09-14T13:48:37","modified_gmt":"2026-09-14T11:48:37","slug":"divorzi","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/consbrisbane.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/stato-civile\/divorzi\/","title":{"rendered":"Divorces"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Registering a Divorce<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To register in Italy a divorce judgment issued in Australia, the Consular Office must receive:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A self-declaration in lieu of a sworn statement (dichiarazione sostitutiva di atto di notoriet\u00e0), dated and signed by the Italian citizen.<\/li>\n<li>The original Decree Absolute of Divorce (or Decree Nisi) or Divorce Order certificate, legalized by means of an apostille (issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade).<\/li>\n<li>An Italian translation of the document, carried out by an accredited NAATI translator.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please note that translation of the apostille is NOT required.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A photocopy of the Italian identity card or Italian passport of the Italian citizen(s), and a photocopy of the passport of the foreign citizen (if the parties involved are not both Italian).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To register a divorce judgment issued by a country other than Australia, this Office must receive:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A self-declaration in lieu of a sworn statement, dated and signed by the Italian citizen.<\/li>\n<li>The original divorce judgment issued by the competent authority of the country, legalized according to the procedures required by that country.<\/li>\n<li>An Italian translation of the judgment, carried out by a professional translator and legalized\/certified according to the procedures required by that country.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please note that translation of the apostille is NOT required.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A photocopy of the Italian identity card or Italian passport of the Italian citizen(s), and a photocopy of the passport of the foreign citizen (if the parties involved are not both Italian).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The above-mentioned documentation may be sent by post or delivered in person at this Consulate during public opening hours, without the need for an appointment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Registering a Divorce To register in Italy a divorce judgment issued in Australia, the Consular Office must receive: A self-declaration in lieu of a sworn statement (dichiarazione sostitutiva di atto di notoriet\u00e0), dated and signed by the Italian citizen.
