Italian Remembrance Day and re-inauguration of the Monument to the Italians in Richlands (7 November 2021)

Sunday 7th November was a day of intense and interesting community gatherings in Brisbane.

On Sunday morning, at the Fogolar Furlan Pallara venue, the Brisbane Alpine Association organized the “Italian remembrance day”, Festa dell’Unità nazionale e delle Forze Armate, with the patronage of the Consulate of Italy in Brisbane and Comites Queensland and Northern Territory, in the presence of the representatives of the Italian associations of Queensland, in accordance with the pandemic restrictions in force. On the occasion, Consul Napolitano also recalled the solemn commemorations for the centenary of the “Milite ignoto”, the “Unknown Soldier" held in Italy.

On the afternoon of Sunday 7 November, the Consul of Italy in Brisbane, Salvatore Napolitano, participated, together with the President of the Comites Mariangela Stagnitti and the Brisbane City Councilor, Mr. Charles Strunk, in the re-inauguration of the Monument to the Italians of Richlands. The monument, originally inaugurated in 1997, is a tribute to the great contribution of the Italian community to the development of the City of Brisbane and Queensland and has been relocated to an area with greater visibility at the Richlands Community Center.
