I also renewed the commitment of the Consulate, under the coordination of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Embassy of Italy to Australia, to work for the reactivation of the Honorary Vice Consulate in Cairns, a position which is vacant since 2012".

During the visit, the Consul also visited Cairns State High School, where he met with the teachers and students of the very successful Italian immersion program.
