NOTICE FOR THE COLLECTION OF EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST TO CARRY OUT THE ROLE OF HONORARY VICE CONSUL IN TOWNSVILLE (QUEENSLAND)

It is hereby made known that the Italian Consulate in Brisbane intends to proceed with appointing a new honorary vice consul in Townsville. The honorary vice consul, who will operate under the direction of the Consulate of Italy in Brisbane, will be primarily required to provide assistance to Italian citizens and protection of Italian interests in the jurisdiction of competence.

Expressions of interest for this position can be sent to the following email address: brisbane.protocol@esteri.it , by 15 August 2020 and must include: Curriculum Vitae; a copy of photo ID; the enclosed information sheet on the processing of personal data, duly completed and signed by the candidate. We inform you that the data of anyone presenting an expression of interest will be treated in accordance with the provisions of regulation (EU) 2016/679.

It should also be noted that the purpose of this notice is solely to collect a larger number of expressions of interest to fill the position in question, with the aim of making a selection within a wider range of potential candidates. It is to be understood that the selection in question will NOT take place on the basis of a public exam (concorso) or any other type of test. It is in fact to be noted that honorary consular officials are chosen by the competent Italian administration (Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation) “among persons preferably of Italian citizenship, who enjoy esteem and prestige and give full confidence that they can adequately fulfill the consular duties” (art. 47, paragraph I of Presidential Decree, 5 January 1967, n. 18). We also inform you that candidates for the position should preferably have an adequate command of the Italian language and reside in Townsville area.

Finally, please be reminded that the position of honorary vice consul does not constitute employment for the government or work as an employee. It is instead, a voluntary service agreement for the fulfillment of honorary duties for the state.
