Mission to the Gold Coast (7-8 June 2019)

The official mission of the Italian Consul in Brisbane Salvatore Napolitano to the Gold Coast was motivated by the celebrations for the 73rd anniversary of the Italian Republic at the Italian-Australian Gold Coast Club and for the 30th anniversary of the Dante Alighieri Gold Coast.

During the mission, Napolitano met the Gold Coast Mayor, Tom Tate, and discussed with him the best strategies to promote collaboration between Italy and the sixth Australian city by number of residents, which is a of the most popular tourist destinations and is living a burgeoning economic expansion. The Consul also visited Bond University, celebrating this year its 30th anniversary, and the Benowa State School, where 200 pupils learn Italian.

"The Dante Alighieri Gold Coast does an excellent job in teaching Italian I was happy to pay tribute to President Santomauro, the teachers, the Committee and the students, as well as to celebrate all together in the Italian-Australian Club our National Day, a very important and heartfelt celebration for the Italian community residing in the Gold Coast and all over the world" said the Consul who announced that in the coming years he will organize celebrations for Republic Day also in other places of the Consulate’s district which includes Queensland and the Northern Territory.
