Visit to Mackay (17-19 May 2019)

Consul Napolitano took part in the third edition of the Jayco Mackay Street Party, organized by the Mackay and District Italian Association Incorporated on Saturday 18 April, which this year saw the participation of around 5 thousand people.

During the mission the Consul had the opportunity to meet with the Mayor Greg Williamson and other Councilors of the Mackay City Council with whom he discussed collaboration on trade (especially in agri-business and the mining sector ), culture and for the teaching of Italian. It was agreed to facilitate agreements between Mackay and Italian territories which are economically similar or complementary with the city of Northern Queensland.

Napolitano also met with the community that includes many young Italians actively involved into traditional associations; he then intervened in the Radio Ma Che Dici program by Daniele Dallari and Monica Moruzzi together with the President of Comites Mariangela Stagnitti. Napolitano visited the exhibition "Unless you know where you are from where you are", which tells the story of Mackay's Italian immigration, also collected in a publication edited by the Mackay and District Italian Association. In Mackay, a city of 90,000 inhabitants very rich in mining and sugar cane processing, there are numerous job offers of potential interest for the many young Italians who choose to come to Australia.
