Presentation of the Consul at the Italian Queensland Chamber of Commerce

On Tuesday, February 26th, Consul Napolitano attended an introduction lunch to the Italian business community of Brisbane and Queensland organized by the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Queensland.

President Comm. Santo Santoro welcomed the Consul on behalf of the members of the Chamber and carried out an interview on the expectations and objectives of the Consul in the upcoming months and for the duration of his mandate.

Napolitano stated he was enthusiastic about having chosen Brisbane and that since his very first meeting he was warmly received by local authorities that expressed gratitude and compliments for the historical role of the Italian community to Queensland’s foundations and current development, as well as for the activities of Italian companies. Napolitano stressed that the Consulate will be working hard, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy, to help boost economic and commercial relations for the benefit of Italian companies, the ones already active in Queensland and those interested in the opportunities of a State “in constant expansion and with further growth margins”.

According to the latest data released from the Australian Government, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, during the period 2017 (July) -2018 (June), Italy is among the top 20 commercial partners of Queensland, for a total value of trade of 944 million Australian dollars (about 580 million euros) of which the overwhelming majority consists of Italian exports amounting to 766 million Australian dollars (about 480 million euros).
